The NYISO monitors the reliability of the state’s power system and coordinates the daily operations to distribute electricity supply.  The NYISO provides open access to the state’s transmission system to allow competitive generation services.

Energy services companies (ESCOs), who offer electricity supply, are required to notify the NYISO of their eligibility status upon receipt of the Department’s compliance letter that the retail access application is completed.
