Comments Sought on Potential Changes to NYS Competitive Energy Market

12-M-0476 – Proceeding on Motion of the New York State Public Service Commission to Assess Certain Aspects of the Residential and Small Non-residential Retail Energy Markets in New York State

More than a decade ago, the energy industry was restructured in New York to provide consumers the opportunity to purchase electricity and natural gas from another supplier, an energy service company (ESCO), than from their utility company. The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) recently instituted a proceeding to consider potential new rules and regulations to improve the operation of the retail energy market for the benefit of consumers. The Commission is seeking comments from the public regarding those potential changes.

More information on the questions raised by the Commission and how you can share your views and comments are provided in the Notice Seeking Comments .

If you have any questions, please contact Honor Marie Kennedy at honor.kennedy@dps.ny.gov or (518)474-0479.
