What is an "Inactive" telecommunications company? The term "Inactive" currently means that the companies listed on this web page have not completed a required TCCI form.

What is a "Ceased Operations" company?

The term "Ceased Operations" means that the New York Public Service Commission has received formal notification that a company is no longer doing regulated business in New York State.

How can our company change its status to "Active"?

If you company's status appears incorrectly, you must file an updated TCCI form. Upon receipt of this form, your company's name will be removed from the"Inactive" web page and placed on the web page of "Active" telecommunications carriers. Click here to view and submit a TCCI form. Any questions, contact Amanda Kopet at amanda.kopet@dps.ny.gov or 518-473-5349.

Our company is no longer doing business in New York State, what do we do?

If your company no longer provides regulated telephone services, has no customers, and would like to surrender its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) and relinquish authority to provide telecommunications services in New York State, the company should email a cover letter to the Secretary to the Commission at secretary@dps.ny.gov, stating the same and requesting to relinquish all rights associated therewith. The cover letter should be accompanied by a tariff Cancellation Supplement for each tariff in effect, canceling them in their entirety.

If the effective tariffs are filed in electronic format, the tariff Cancellation Supplement(s) should be filed in the Electronic Tariff System (ETS).

If the effective tariffs are filed in paper format, the cover letter and tariff Cancellation Supplement(s) should be emailed to the Secretary.

If the company does not know in which format its tariffs are filed, or for any general questions about surrendering a CPCN and relinquishing authority to provide telecommunications service, please contact Timothy Kitchner at 518-473-5245 or at timothy.kitchner@dps.ny.gov.
