Department of Public Service - Help with Advanced Search



Instructions for finding documents filed in a given case between two given dates
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents, click on the link for
"Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents"
On the search form, click on the radio button for "Document"
Enter 03-E-0188 in the Matter/Case Number field
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 01/19/2009 in the "Date Filed From" box.
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 02/23/2009 in the "Date Filed To" box.
Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of 32 documents filed in case 03-E-0188 between 1/19 and 2/23.
Click on the Matter/Case no. link to see more information about the case.
Click on the Document title link to read the document.

Instructions for finding all orders filed in a given case between two given dates
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents, click on the link for
"Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents"
On the search form, click on the radio button for "Document"
Enter 03-E-0188 in the Matter/Case Number field.
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 01/19/2009 in the "Date Filed From" box.
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 02/23/2009 in the "Date Filed To" box.
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, use the drop-down control to select "Orders" in the "Document Type" field.
Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of documents filed in case 03-E-0188 between 1/19 and 2/23 that are orders
Click on the Matter/Case no. link to see more information about the case.
Click on the Document title link to read the document.

Instructions for finding the latest filed documents regardless of case number
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents", click on the link for
"Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents"
On the search form, click on the radio button for "Document"
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 01/19/2009 in the "Date Filed From" box.
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, enter 02/23/2009 in the "Date Filed To" box.
Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of documents filed between 1/19 and 2/23.
Click on the Matter/Case no. link to see more information about the case.
Click on the Document title link to read the document.

Instructions for finding Cases that were started between two given dates
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents", click on the link for
Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents
On the search form, make sure that the "Matter/Cases" radio button is selected (it is selected by default)
In the "Matter/Case Search" portion of the screen, enter 01/19/2009 in the "Start Date From" box.
In the "Matter/Case Search" portion of the screen, enter 02/23/2009 in the "Start Date To" box.
Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of Cases that were started between 1/19 and 2/23.
Click on the Matter/Case no. link to see more information about the case.

Instructions for finding PSC Cable TV renewal Orders for a given municipality filed between two given dates
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents, click on the link for
Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents
On the search form, click on the radio button for "Document"
In the "Matter/Case Search portion of the screen, in the "Industry Affected" field, select "Cable"
In the "Matter/Case Search portion of the screen, in the "Matter Case Title" field, type "Port Washington"
In the "Document Search" portion of the screen, use the dropdown in the "Document Type" to select "Orders"
Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of "Order" type documents filed between 1/19 and 2/23.
Click on the Matter/Case no. link to see more information about the case that the order was filed in.
Click on the Document title link to read the document.
Click on the "Advance Search" button (at the top right of the screen) to get back to the advanced search screen.
Click the Browser Back button to get back to the general search page.

Instructions for finding PSC Cable TV renewal Orders filed between two given dates
From the Home page http://www.dps.ny.gov/
Click on Commission Documents (on the left)
Under the box for "Search Dept. Case Related Documents, click on the link for
Advanced Search for Department Case Related Documents
On the search form, click on the radio button for "Document"
In the "Matter/Case Search portion of the screen, in the "Industry Affected" field, select "Cable"

Click the "Search" button
You will see a result set of "Order" type documents filed between 1/19 and 2/23.

Click on the "Advance Search" button (at the top right of the screen) to get back to the advanced search screen.
Click the Browser Back button to get back to the general search page.
